deven does have a fun bar, cheap drinks, fun music and as far as his wife being hot well that is just funny, you must have been really really drunk when you looked at her or maybe it was one of dev‘s girls he has on the side.

this bar is full of tools and i would rather drink the waterfrom the underground that bar is nasty take the time to clean that place

Love how people "know" the bartenders.....Pretty Weak....why would anyone say that could take down the whole bar staff with what they knew....Probably cause they don‘t know what they are talking about.....Or they got burned there once and hate everyone there.....I‘m going with option 1 and 2....

But, like almost everyone else is saying - beware of the bartenders. I was once in the bartender circle. They are not good guys and I‘ve heard it straight from the mouths of the people that work there. They sleep around -married, engaged, relationship, no relationship they do it. If you‘re involved with someone from this place be careful. That‘s all I gotta say. I know so much shit I could ruin every single relationship in that place. Ladies you gotta figure it out. Don‘t get me wrong, not all of them are bad. But it doesn‘t take a brain surgon to know that someone who‘s career choice includes "bartender" is bad news.

I used to go to south street on a regular occasion. Deven and the crew are awesome. I also know deven and his wife outside the bar and they are great people. To the lady that has the hots for deven get a grip. Deven is not like that for 1 and 2 his wife is damn hot and he knows it. He has always said he would be a fool to try to take another woman home or hit on one. So put down your bottle and get your facts right before you type horny old coot.

This bar is legit, I don‘t understand the haters who think they are gonna write some b/s about people they don‘t even know. I especially love the woman who set a great example going out and getting loaded with her daughters, and concocting a story about Devin hitting on em...and then went out of her way to find somewhere to get her bogus 2 cents in, on this thread. If there is a chance that you might be a hater...this is not your kind of bar.

this bar is a fun place to go to meet friends but it gets old when the 40 something year old owner thinks he‘s a 21 year old collage boy trying to smooze up to the young girls and brag about how much stuff he owns, like thats going to help and look for a good time from someone he‘s too old for anyway ....makes me sick!!!

I love this bar and am very sad I had to move away from Mankato because now I am no longer able to have a wonderful South St night! Can‘t wait to come back and visit! Hands down the best bar in Kato!

If you say the staff is rude, try understanding who they are dealing with. Drunk, young college kids who think they are the first people to joke that "their ID is a fake," girls who are screaming and throwing their money in your face in an attempt to get served first, guys who think it is ok to grab and say degrading things to the waitress, etc. Understand that while a bar is there to show you a good time, it is a business. There is a time for joking around and a time for straight doing your job. This bar is staffed by some of the greatest guys in Mankato! Just because they run out of patience sometimes doesn‘t make them rude. And honestly, are you constantly smiling when you‘re at work?! Do you ever lose patience and snap at a customer or co-worker? Don‘t be hypocrates. South street is awesome!

Hmmm, So much to say about this bar. Yes the music is loud, its always packed, yes you get bumped into from time to time. If thats not what your looking for in a bar, then stay home cause this is not the bar for you. However, if you are looking for a GREAT time, cheap drinks, and lots of people then I suggest stopping in to check it out. After all they must be doing something right, like noted before its always packed!! All I can say to the Owner/Staff is to NOT change a thing. Oh yeah great job on the bathrooms, no more waiting inline when you gotta pee!!! Thanks for all the great times!!!!!

This is a great place to meet up with friends for fun and drinks. I visit Mankato frequently and this has always been one of my favorite places to go. It can definitely be rowdy, but we‘ve also been there when it was tame. Always fun!

well I am the owner as for the lady who wrote I was trying to take your daughter(S) home I have two young daughters of my own and would not want that happening to them and would never try something like that. Next we are not there to take you people home we are there to show you a good time and try to give you the best service we possibly can.by the way we got the bathrooms done!!!!! Last but not least if you want to write bullshit and lies at least have the balls to write your name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

South Street is a great college bar. Packed, Noisey, Cheap Drinks.....can‘t ask for much more. If you want quick service when its packed best go to the back bar or get to know the bartenders since most of them have been working there since I starting going 10 years ago when I went to school there.


To the guy who said the owner tried to take his daughter home....ya right. He is marriend and I would guess his wife is better looking then your daugther....odds are she was probably there working that night too, you probably even stared at here u dirty old man.

Awful, awful, awful bar. Rude service, and the bartenders act like they‘re doing you this huge favor when they finally get you a drink. Door guys are a bunch of meatheads that let in all of their little underage girlfriends. Honestly, it would be better if they let in a few less people or on a weeknight. I really don‘t understand the popularity of the place. Maybe if I was 19 I‘d like it better!

South Street is the bar my friends and I look forward to going to when we go downtown. The music is always fun and different then all the other bars in town. And now they have new bathrooms!!!! :) I do not agree with some of the other comments from people who dislike the place. I have never been put in an uncomfortable position by any of the employees and have been saved by them from the true creepy guys. As for the lady who believes the owner was trying to take girls home she must have been mistaken for who the owner is because more then likely his wife was working while he was there. If girls are worried about being brought home by a guy at the bar maybe they shouldn‘t dress and act slutty oh yea and drink too much. People need to take some responsibility for themselves and not blame others. My friends and I have never had a problem and enjoy going here. I have to say hands down this is the best bar in town for college kids!

Established in 1973, this is a Mankato icon. Under new ownership in 2004, the hometown feel remains the same. The atmosphere is nostalgic and revered by those who visit. For those who enjoy playing pool, darts or having a drink, I recommend they visit. The college crowds usually walk through the door after 10:00 p.m. so if you prefer stop by earlier. Few bars you can walk into and feel welcomed. Here you do.

I was here twice for each of my daughters 21st b-days and each time the (the owner) tried getting them to go home with him at the end of the night after getting them drunk....It‘s not right.... how my girls were treated and tried to be taken advantage of by the very person that was is to be responsable of owning this bar. I am hoping to warn other young girls of how the bar owner takes advantage of young cute girls after getting them drunk.......please print this review!!!

the guys that work here are ugly......who‘d want to take a bartender home from this place.....but your right they like to get the slutty girls drunk so they can take them home......bar is too loud and dirty......

I love this bar! Great music and Atmosphere, just waiting for the updated bathrooms!!

This place is filthy (bathrooms are disgusting) and full of drunk people. The drunks are mostly young. Puke on the floor or on the sidewalk out front is not uncommon. So it has its own charm, so to speak. On weekends and after midnight the place is packed, loud and full of sluts - and creepy old men drooling and lurking watching slutty girls dance and make out for attention. Good times - or people watching?!

Way too crowded on a weekend nite!!!! By the time you get to where your going after your drink your lucky if its half full after all the people bumping and running into you!!! And whats up with the bathrooms!!!!!

Too crowded and takes forever to get a drink. Go there on a not-so-busy night and you‘ll love it. Go there on the weekend and you will have to push and shove to get drinks and in order to get from side to side. HINT: hit up the back bar :)

Music is too loud. The drinks are cheap, which is good and the bartenders are nice but you can‘t move and you can‘t hear anyone you‘re talking to.

I also see that people just want to go here to sleep with the bartenders so its full of sluts.
